Setting Intentions for December

It’s that time again — time to set intentions for the December moon cycle.

The new moon falls on December 18.

It is a Sagittarius New Moon, the last New Moon of the year.

According to Intuitive Astrology, “December’s New Moon energy is fiery, motivated, and passionate. All of this energy is going to help us close up 2017 with a bang, and to welcome in the new vibration that 2018 has in store for us.”

This strong energetic New Moon will help give us the final push and motivation we need to put into motion all of the things we’re learned, created and achieved in 2017, and carry them over to the new year.

With just about two weeks left of the year, it’s time to take charge, stay focused, and finish this year with intention and dedication. Think of all of your new beginnings from 2017. Take a moment to reflect.

What are you still holding on to? What are you ready to let go of? Can you move into this new cycle, into this new year, with a release of what no longer serves you?

Astrology King shares this about the December New Moon:

This is a new moon for achievement, recognition and satisfaction. Taking on more responsibility and acting more responsibly will earn you respect and promotion. Build a strong foundation for the future and make life more stable and secure for you and your family.

As I’ve mentioned in previous intention-setting posts, goal-setting gets results.

People who write down their goals and dreams on a regular basis are more likely to achieve those goals compared to people who do not.

I invite you to set your New Moon intentions, or wishes, for the upcoming month. You can see my intentions for last month here.

This simple exercise is very powerful, especially when you practice it each month and can see what you’re working toward and what comes to fruition over time.

How to Set Intentions for December’s New Moon

Take time in the next day or two and write out 10 new moon intentions, wishes, and desires.

Write them as if they have already manifested to give them more power. For example: “I eat food that nourishes my body and I am strong” rather than “I try to be healthy.”

Intention number 1 should be something you hope for your friends, relatives, pets or anyone that needs personal healing energy.

Intentions number 2-9 should be personal, the things you want to come to fruition in the coming month.

Intention number 10 is a wish for the world, mother earth, the animal kingdom. Your wish could be for peace, environmental healing, or just to a place where you want to send positive energy.

Once you write out your list of intentions, put them in a sacred place and read them often. While writing them down is the first step to making your goals a reality, reading them regularly reminds you of what you set out to do and helps you stay on track.

My New Moon Intentions for December

1. My grandparents support one another with compassion and love, and find peace within and outside of themselves.

2. I attend weekly meditation sessions and Dharma talks at the Milwaukee Shambhala Center. It’s right across the street from my house, and I just went for the first time this Tuesday. What a blessing! This week we talked about kindness.

3. I commit to compromise, compassion and kindness in my relationship with my partner.

4. I continue to share yoga with new students each week and develop classes that will benefit everyone.

5. I am successful and confident at my job and continue to learn and grow.

6. I allow myself the freedom to create without pressure as I continue on this blogging journey.

So weird, I came back here to see if you had responded to my comment, and I can only see the opening and hope you didn’t think I was rude for not leaving more meaningful sentiment...because your post really did speak to me! This is a time of year we don’t often set intentions or even take care of ourselves, but it’s a time when we should pause and reflect more than ever. Best of luck with your new moon intentions this month. Also this is something I’m always working on myself: “I commit to compromise, compassion and kindness in my relationship with my partner.” Read Less
